God Bless!
I have become all things to all people, so that I might by some means win some…
~1 Cor 9:23
God has called us to follow on a journey – to help, to heal, to spread the news, open eyes, teach truth, and set at liberty the oppressed. To become whatever it is the world needs, here and now, so that somehow, in the hereafter, we might be saved.
So where is God calling you to go, what is God calling you to do, who is God calling you to be, today?
How will you follow, today?
Certain spaces in the prayer are left open for you to add whatever is on your heart to add.
And Let Us Pray…
Lord God, Creator, Redeemer,
We lift before you the concerns that we share with our world…
… with our nation …
… with our communities …
… our families …
… our friends …
… our neighbors …
… and ourselves …
Watch over us, and guide us in these times of uncertainty and fear, into your promise and your future.
Forgive us for all the wrong that we have done,
Willingly and unwillingly,
Knowingly or unknowingly.
Give us your grace, to resist tomorrow whatever temptation we have given into today,
To persevere in challenges we have yet to face,
To live beyond fear.
In the name of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, who calls us to follow, Amen.
Now, I’m pleased to introduce my father, Pastor Norman Bude, and his message for this Sunday.
We are a strange people.
So how do we reach out to those who find us strange? How do we engage and speak truth to those who do not understand us?
These are the questions that the Church has always faced. And too often, the challenge convinces us that we are better off hiding – at least until they understand us better. Too often, the challenge and the fear of being misunderstood convinces us to remain where we are, to wait for those who do not know God to come to us – because at least they’re already interested…
But we are not people of fear.
We are the people called to follow, to become what the world needs us to be – whether the world likes it or not – to become what God has made us to be. And to always, always, tell the truth.
So in the week ahead, take up the challenge, tell the truth, follow the shepherd.
Thanks, another great message, and music!
