Explore into the vast reaches of faith.

Discover – new insights into bible, theology, history, and language.

Question all preconceptions both ancient and modern.

And above all else – BELIEVE.

My name is Shanna Terese Bude

I have degrees in history and languages (including Hebrew, Greek, and Latin), two master’s degrees in theology, and a deep, abiding passion for all things bible, church, and faith.

I honestly believe that the bible is still living, active, and applicable to our lives. I honestly believe that the life of religious devotion is vibrant, energetic, animating, and meaningful.

Yes, even in this day and age.

I am, though, also a product of my time – an age filled with its own unique concerns, challenges, and needs. The fact is, we don’t live in a 1st century AD Greek city state, or in Jerusalem ca. 1,000 BC. The days in which our faith was founded, the cultures the bible was originally written for, were, indeed, different from our own. In some ways, radically different. Personally, I delight in the differences as a source of endless wonder. But when approaching that tenuous line between abstract belief and real life, the distance between then and now does present challenges.

How do we apply the bible’s teachings to modern life? How do we Reimagine Devotion for a meaningful future to come?

Well, let’s find out!

P.S. I am currently blessed to be working as Lay Minister for Bristol and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Churches down in Kenosha County, WI. All Sunday Messages posted here are originally delivered at one of those locations. For more about these churches specifically, check out their Facebook pages:
